Practice holds

This website can randomly generate hold instructions for IFR. I created it to practice hold entries in a simulator, and it helped me become much more confident with hold entries.

The website is designed to be used in the following way.

Open this website on another screen or another device. It should be visible when you're flying in your simulator.
Pick any holding fix. It may be a VOR, NDB, or a GPS waypoint. It is important, that you should be able to hold on any radial at that fix.
Enter fix name and initial inbound course below.
Generate a holding instruction.
Decide which entry you should to use.
Press "Reveal entry" button and verify if you've picked a correct one.
Fly one lap in the holing pattern.
Once turned inbound, generate new holding instructions, and perform an entry into the new holding pattern right after completing the inbound leg.
Repeat until you feel very confident about holding entries.

Configuration

Holding fix name Type anything here, it will be included in the hold instruction as is.

Approach course Approach course is used to find the correct entry. It is automatically updated to the inbound course of the previous hold, so you can keep flying random holds around the same fix uninterrupted.
